Faculty Artists �Twilight Concerts�

Always exciting, this chamber music series is performed by the Faculty Artists of the Stony Brook Summer Music Festival. Hailing from around the world, the Faculty Artists are in residence as coaches for the students accepted to participate in the chamber music festival.

I. Festival Opening Gala Concert
July 25th, 2004
Sunday
6:00 pm

The sparkling and vivacious Ginestera Duo for oboe and flute: Reicha Quintet for horn and strings; the Czech flavored Martinu Trio for flute, viola and piano and with alluring Spanish flair, the Joaquin Turina Quartet for piano and strings.

II. August 1st , 2004
Sunday
7:30 pm

The exquisite Trio for flute, cello and piano by Piern�; Martinu Quartet for oboe, violin, cello and piano; composer-in-residence Peter Winkler�s �Returning to the Root� for Horn and piano; the eternal and exhilarating chamber music favorite � the Dvorak Quintet for strings and piano.

Student Performances

I. �Ora Mistica�
August 6th, 2004
Friday
11:30 pm � 12:30 am*

The magical hour where �the Night meets the Day.� The student performances begin during this mystical hour. The program will include the young artists� work of the past two weeks and any special ensembles which were formed out of their own initiative. The sky is the limit for this unique experience and treasured tradition.


II. Festival Chamber Orchestra
August 7th, 2004
Saturday
8:00 pm

Celebrated conductor Paul Hostetter,leads the Festival chamber orchestra in a highly polished performance. Join the chamber orchestra in performance of Beethoven�s Symphony No.2, Wagner captivating Siegfried Idyll and the warming �Summer Evening� by Zoltan Kodaly.


III. Festival Finale!
August 8th, 2004
Sunday
1:00 pm

The chamber music celebration of the young artists training during the Festival. A very special highlight will be the World Premiere of Peter Winkler�s �Gathering Reel�.


� All Festival performances in the Recital Hall of the Staller Center for the Arts. All student performances are free and open to the Public.

� Faculty Artists concert tickets may be purchased at the door. Adults $15.00, Students and Senior Citizens $10.00 each.
